About Summiteer

~Froswick~

A featured fell is my way of studying each fell in turn and recording thoughts and observations.

I'm not going to count the words or measure the map, but I'll wager that Wainwright's time spent writing the four pages for Froswick was close to be the least dedicated to any individual fell.

AW "Froswick is rarely climbed direct; invariably its summit is gained incidentally during the course of the Ill Bell ridge-walk, starting at Garburn Pass."

Froswick from Ill Bell

The photo above was taken on 27th November 2010, we did not continue on to Froswick due to the very cold wind and cloud thereon.

Froswick from Thornthwaite Crag

On 6th March 2016 - wonderful conditions for a wintry Lakeland walk.

A direct route is suggested in the Wainwright book and it would originate in Troutbeck, following Blue Gill. Hands up anyone who has done this!

Doubtless this is a fell, but not really much of one and fell-baggers will not find many easier ones, once the summits of either Ill Bell or Thornthwaite Crag have been reached.

Where: Far Eastern Fells. Within the Kentmere Horseshoe.

Height: 2359ft

Suggested Route: The Kentmere Horseshoe, refer to Ill Bell 4 in the Far Eastern Fells - Book Two and then keep going in a northerly direction.

My Frequency: Five - possibly more from the old days.

Whilst You're There: At the risk of repeating myself, The Kentmere Horseshoe.

My Direct Ascent: 15th August 2020

Walk Dates: with links to Reports (on this website) where applicable:

03/03/23 15/08/20 06/03/16 02/06/11 26/06/10
